Diving is considered an extremely safe sport and has a much better track record for injury than many other adventurous sports. However, there are known health risks associated with diving, particularly if you suffer from certain respiratory or circulatory conditions. You don’t need to be an athlete in order to dive, but you should be comfortable in water, have basic swimming skills, and be in good overall health, particularly your respiratory and circulatory systems

Before you arrive at Want2Dive, you must be sure that you are in a suitable physical condition for the sport of diving. At the start of a course or a guided dive, every student must complete and sign a padi Medical Statement, which includes a number of questions relating to your medical history. By answering the questions, you will discover if you'll require a doctor's check-up before taking to the water. (padi  insists on this if your medical history shows a 'contra-indication' to participating in diving.)

A signed copy of the padi medical statement  is required for each student, for any padi Scuba Diving/ training course.

If you have any of the pre-existing conditions, you will need to get the approval, and signature, of your physician, to engage in Scuba Diving/training. Since some doctors are not familiar with the special needs/risks of Scuba Diving, the form includes basic guidelines and other information for the examining physician.

Please follow these important instructions on how to check your medical history:

  • Click HERE to download the padi medical statement
  • Print a copy
  • Answer each question carefully, Sign and date the bottom of your statement
  • If you are unsure of the answer to any of the questions, you should answer "yes".
  • If any of the answers you give to the questions are "yes", visit your doctor for a medical examination, taking your statement with you.
  • If your doctor is satisfied with your health, you are ready to start your Adventure. However, you must bring BOTH your signed Medical Statement and your doctor's clearance with you to Want2Dive, as we are required to keep these with your training records.

As stated in the form, diving is a very safe activity,
"When performed correctly, applying correct techniques...".

Thank you for your cooperation!!
